This summer, Adelphe Connect brought something truly special to Broxburn: EmbraceHer, our very first summer camp for girls aged 8 to 15 in Broxburn. Created and led by our CEO Eloho Efemuai and delivered by our team Karin, Goretti, Prathiba, Marilu Nuñez Sanchez and Bridget Okoye .
Over five joy-filled days, a wonderful group of 16 young women gathered to build confidence, practise gratitude, unleash their creativity, and — most importantly — discover just how capable, kind and powerful they already are.
Welcome table on Day 1 — every girl was greeted by name and handed her own EmbraceHer badge.
Day 1 - Getting to Know Each Other
The week kicked off with warm welcomes, fun icebreakers, team-building activities and creative challenges. Each girl received her own notebook to keep for the week — a special space to reflect, dream and write down her thoughts. Friendships began to form almost instantly, and by the end of the day the girls had already embraced the week’s guiding spirit: creativity, kindness and self-belief.
The morning also began gently, with a yoga session focused on understanding and connecting with our bodies. Alongside the movement, our teacher led a powerful conversation about self-esteem — teaching the girls that when someone says something unkind, they don’t have to give it permission to affect how they feel. We can simply choose not to accept it, and instead listen to ourselves, because our own words about who we are, are the ones that are valid.

The girls also decorated their very own pencil cases, filling them with affirmations and inspirational words to carry with them for the rest of the week and long after camp ended.
Day 2 - Gratitude & Kindness
Day two turned the spotlight on gratitude and giving back. The girls took part in a tower-building challenge, a lively Gratitude Relay, and laid out heartfelt notes of everything they were thankful for. They also explored their own Vision Boards, imagining who they want to be in ten years’ time — the qualities they want to stand out for, the dreams they’re chasing, and the strengths they already carry within them.

When asked how they’d support their community with £10,000, many girls said they’d give to charity or help people in need — a beautiful reminder of just how much compassion these young women already carry. The day closed with the girls creating Kindness Rocks and Gratitude Jars, filled with encouraging messages to lift up others.
“Woah girl, you are shining!” — one of the affirmation jars the girls made to remind themselves of their own light.
Day 3 - Summer Creativity
Creativity was in full flow! The girls designed beautiful summer mood boards and created air-dry clay tiles, learning how to mix primary colours into new shades along the way. Their imagination, focus and artistic talent shone through every piece they made.

Day 4 - Find Your Voice
The morning began with a fun game of charades before the girls turned to bag painting, using acrylics and colour pencils to create their own designs and fill them with inspirational phrases to carry with them. In the afternoon, they took part in the inspiring “Find Your Voice” workshop, exploring storytelling, self-expression and confidence. Many stepped up to a microphone for the very first time, discovering that their voice matters and deserves to be heard.

Day 5 - Celebration Day
We closed the week with a joyful celebration! Families were invited to join us for a showcase of the girls’ work, followed by games, reflections, certificates and awards. It was a wonderful chance to celebrate everything the girls had achieved — their confidence, kindness, creativity and courage to try new things.
At the closing ceremony, the girls demonstrated everything they had learned throughout the week — from their decorated shells to their team-building triumphs. And fittingly, we ended the camp with HEART:
H — Helping others
E — Encouraging one another
A — Appreciation for what we have
R — Respect for ourselves and each other
T — Try new things, even when it feels scary
It’s a message every girl left with — and one we hope stays with her long after summer ends.
“I feel excited and energetic”, “I feel calm”, “I am happy” — the girls’ own words, reflecting how far they’d come.
Looking Ahead
EmbraceHer was so much more than a summer camp — it was a week of connection, growth and genuine self-belief that reflects everything Adelphe Connect stands for. We are incredibly proud of every single girl who took part, and prouder still of who they are becoming. Here’s to the next generation of confident, compassionate leaders — and to building on this success with many more EmbraceHer camps to come.
