Knowing women are struggling is not enough. Here is what it really takes to make a difference.
Most organisations mean well. But good intentions are not the same as real support.
In recent years, conversations about women’s wellbeing in the workplace have grown louder. More companies are talking about menopause policies, flexible working, and mental health days. And that is a start. But talking about support and actually delivering it are two very different things.
Women returning to work after maternity leave, career breaks, or years of caregiving are still being handed a laptop and wished good luck. Women navigating menopause are still being told to push through. Women from ethnic minority backgrounds are still facing barriers that go unacknowledged and unaddressed.
Support that does not see the whole woman is not really support.
The most common mistake organisations make is treating women’s challenges as isolated problems. A menopause policy here. A mental health app there. But women do not experience life in silos. The same woman managing menopause symptoms may also be caring for an ageing parent, rebuilding her confidence after years out of the workforce, and navigating a workplace culture that was not built with her in mind.
Effective support is joined up, culturally aware, and human. It asks: what is this woman actually carrying right now, and how do we walk with her through it?
"Over 96% of women supported by Adelphe Connect remain active in their newly found opportunities."
Adelphe Connect, 2026
It is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It is a suite of support that moves with a woman's life.
Effective support starts with listening. It creates safe spaces where women can speak honestly without fear of judgment. It offers practical tools alongside emotional backing. And it recognises that women from different cultural backgrounds may need tailored approaches that reflect their specific experiences.
At Adelphe Connect, this is exactly how we work. Our programmes are built around real needs, not assumptions.
Menopause Support: Identifying unique challenges and customised support to manage symptoms at work and at home.
Personal Development: Confidence coaching and tailored programmes to help women believe in themselves again.
Workplace Inclusion: Supporting employers to create culturally integrated, fair, and inclusive workplaces for women.
Every Woman Drop-in: Free, judgment-free listening sessions where any woman can come as she is and be heard.
One of our drop-in sessions in Broxburn focused on women’s mental health and wellbeing.
Sometimes the most powerful thing is simply being heard.
One woman who attended an Adelphe Connect drop-in session in West Lothian shared that she had been struggling to settle into life in Scotland after emigrating. She described feeling isolated, uncertain about work culture, and unsure where to turn. After attending just two sessions, she said the support had made settling in Edinburgh significantly easier.
Another woman attended a financial literacy workshop during a period of real hardship. She said it helped her plan for her family’s needs in a way she had not been able to before. Another came to an interview skills webinar and described it as opening her eyes to what she had been doing wrong, and what she was already doing right.
These are not exceptional stories. They are what happens when support is designed around real life.
Our team, composed of women of all ages and ethnicities, celebrates empowerment together.
Whether you are a woman navigating life’s pressures or an organisation ready to do better, we are here.
